Recently we took ourselves out to the now abandoned, Benson’s Wild Animal Farm. Given the opportunity we took a quick snapshot of us in the old cage of Colossus the Gorilla, who apparently ran for President in the New Hampshire Primaries.

Benson’s Wild Animal Farm/New England Playworld is now ” Benson Park ” and has been open to the public (free) since Memorial day 2010 as a passive recreational day use municipal park with set hours posted.
Many clean up and restoration projects have been completed and are underway. The back of this gorilla house will become permanent bathrooms in the future with the front cage area restored and kept for historical purposes.

Benson Park
Thanks Dana! I love that place.
My wife, grandson and I have visited Benson’s park three times since it reopened this year. It is amazing to see how quickly nature takes over
and obliterates the work of man when it is given the chance. We have an old brochure
from the Animal Park days; it is fun for me to try to find different landmarks we remember
from that era. In its present state Benson’s Park is truly a sanctuary; quiet, relaxing.
The volunteers and others who are working to reclaim it are dong a wonderful job.
